beading Treaty, 2019-ongoing
Beading Treaty is a community collaborative project which seeks to enact the true notion of treaty as a verb. The fact that treaties (at least the ones that were not coerced) were signed in good relations and they were meant to be revisited and evolving based on the growing relationships between the signatories and respective nations. This project seeks to activate that notion through a shared project of making. Through workshops and gatherings Beading Treaty asks participants to bead the words of the Peace and Friendship Treaty of 1725 and to think and discuss what treaty means to them, while enacting treaty through action.
